Advanced - Violin Solo |
|
After playing music for a while, you begin to notice that different instruments have nuances and niches that are unique onto themselves. For guitar it's an A or E minor blues scale, for any horn instrument it's playing in Bb. For violin it's a tiny fretless board that allows for burning scale speed and crazy arpeggios. Let's study a Bach violin solo from my favorite, the 4th Brandenburg concerto.
This all 8th note solo really burns at 65 Beats per minute. (half note = 65 bpm) If you can do it smoothly at 50, you're still cool. The long intricate patterns and beautiful arpeggios like these are the trademark of Bach, Baroque and violinists everywhere. |
