Advanced - Tri Tone Substitution

Everyone loves a good 2 5 1 progression donít they? Well I do, and what could make a strong and confident progression like this better? Why tri tone substitution of course. Lets do a 2 5 1 in G. You already know that these chords are A minor, D7 and G. Lets replace that D7 with a tri tone sub. A tri tone is also know as a flat 5 interval so we will be replacing our D7 with an Ab chord. In this example we will use an Ab7#11 cause it just sounds so pretty.

Nice Ďeh?

A cool variation on these chords might be Amin11, Ab7#11, GMaj7.
